Story:
Amir khan, Sharman Joshi and R. Madhuan are engineering students. Aamir’s thinking about study are different then others and he tries to guide every one in different and positive way. He thinks that if u don’t like any subject or any profession then don’t do it and just think what your heart wants to be .Bhoman Irani is college director and he hates Aamir due to his different thoughts. After study Aamir left every thing and went away and no one knows that where did u go and what was the reasons.after 10 years Sharman and Madhuan goes to find him.
Story line is very good and different then other movies. You can compare it with Munna Bhai MBBS. Aamir’s role is same like Sanjay Dut’s role even Bhoman’s role is also same as his role in Munna Bhai MBBS. Even we can compare a lots of other scenes with Munna Bhai MBBS, but this is not a negavite point. Every movie has resemblance with other movies.
Scenes which have worth:
1. Aamir’s first entry in the movie. He looked very fresh and just 22,23 years old student.
2. Wedding scene when Aamir meets Kareena 1st time and he says her that she shouldnt get marry with her fiancée.
3. A student Chattur’s speech on college function, it was really funny.
4. Hospital scenes when Sharman was admited in hospital
5. Sharman’s interview for job
6. Madhuan’s convincing his father that he want to be wild life photographer
7. Interval point is really shocked and you will surprised that what is going on?
8. Mona Singh’s Delevery scene is also very good executed especially when Aamir invent the light

Performances:
3 Idiot is really Aamir Khan show. After Rang De Basanti he is back again in a young and comic role and this type of roles really suite on him and this time he is 2 step ahead as compare his performance Rang De Basanti.
Sharman Joshi and R Madhuan are also superb and they did their career best performances. Both proved that they are also good actors and they just need good banners and good movies then they can proof their self.
Kareena is ok in her role. She appears after 40 min and she doesn’t have enough screne appearance
Boman Iranai was in his career best performance.

Music:
Music is good but not like Aamir’s previous some releases.
Behki hawa is fantastic song comes in title. This song has three positive points. 1 song is very good melodious 2nd lyrics is mind blowing and this song should get best lyrics awardand location is also very beautiful. After this song you will want to go that areas .
Zoobi Doobi is good dancing song. Dance is old style but accoding to situation it is perfect.
Give me sunshine is also good
All is well is just ok
Back ground score is superb.

Direction:
Rajkumar Hirani has proved his self in Munna Bhai series and now after 3 years he is back with Vidhu Vinod Chopra and their chemistry is also fantastic like Munna Bhai series. It is finest combination in comic movies after Vashu Bhaghnani and David Dhawan. He managed script very sensitively and especially 2nd half is absolutely genius the way he creat the subject which makes very different to other movies. Javed Jafery’s entrée at interval was shocked and suspense and he create the suspence and he carried the subject very carefully.

Negative Point:
Very difficult to find. But , I can mention that
1. Romance between is Aamir and Kareen was not enough even there was no love story or chemistry between them and kareen’s screne appearance was not enough.
2. A scene when examiner was not accepting their paper then Aamir mixed his paper with all other papers which were laying on the table is copied by a funny English clip which we normally have in our mobile phones.
3. Mona Singh’s delivery scene is executed very well but may be families wont like .
Overall 3 idiots is finest movie of 2009 Aamir’s star power , best movie of the year and Christmas release are crump cards of it , it will get huge opening and it has potential to sustain in next 3 weeks.

saifi n kareena are husbend wife saifi is muslim n kareena in hindu both are living in newyork. one day kareena got that her huby and his some muslim friends are actually terrorists and they are making a plan of bombing. vivek got that information accidently by kareena who is a tv reporter and he wants to find out whts going on and they joined their terrorist gang to pretend the bombing in subways.
well story is fantastic and diffrent then other masala movies and similar to new york as well to some extent but actually kurbaan is diffrent then new york.
positive points:
1 - basic idea and story is good
2 - vivek and saifi and kiran kher’s performances are fantastic
3 - last 25 min of the movie is most valueable part of the movie
negative points:

1 - kissing sceen in staff room it is realy realy unbelieveable that 2 mature teachers are kissing in a staff room . wht will be impact on students and teachers as well if karan realy want a kisisng sceen then he could chose any other place why in staff room ??
2 - we didnt get saifi’s back ground his parents and his mother land where was he from and how come kareena’s father agree and allow them to marry even he didnt knwo abt saifi’s ack ground
3 - when kareena knew that saifi and his friends are trying to blast a flight she tried to call dia mirza why she didnt call to police
4 - when kareena saw that his nieghbour is beeting his wife why she didnt call police?
5 - when vivek got that kareena’s huby is involve in plane bombing why he didnt inform police why he was trying to solve this case by his self ?
6 - FBI knows that saifi is a terrorist and he had bear but after that he is teaching in university , he has driving license he go his own house and he is hanging arround none of any cop recognise him even in air port when security officer checked vivek’s bag he didnt check saifi’s bag
7 - most bullshit part of the movie om puri , saifi n vivek are shooting each other in a train but none of any person could call to emergency or police or driver that driver could call to cops .
8 - in first blast in station every one died and all walls and roof broke but fbi agent didnt get hurt and he ‘was running till end of the movie with vivek even he was in front of sucidal bomber
9 - when kareena serve vivek coffee she put a small piece of paper undernieth the cup and om puri took that cup but he didnt see even 6,7 more people were there they also didnt noticed and after then vivek got that cup agian no one noticed. hahahaha ( all were blind for only that moment)
10 - om puri n saifi has a very big plan of bombing and they allowed vivek to join their group even they didnt know him properly . i cant digest this
i thing 10 are enough may be i am forgetting more aur may be some which i couldnt notice when i had full concentration of my pop corn and pepsi.
Performances:
1 vivek was superb and he did fantastic job after shoot out lokhandwala i dont know why producer didnt promote him in the promos of my i was think he has very small role but he is a hero of the movie and he ran the show
2 saifi is also superb like love aajkal and race
3 kareena is also good
4 kirren kher is fantastic her accent was looking like a real afghani pathan even om puri didnt hv afghani accent but he was also good
direction:
ransil got great idea from karan but he couldnt make it perfect and flowless his screenplay was too weak but last 25 min he did great job . he need more improvement.

Blue Movie Review

I was planning to write review of Blue. But I did not find time to write so sorry folks for late review. Let’s come straight to the point. Bollywood biggest movie blue with huge budget, huge star cast, massive adventurous scene, Oscar award wining musician and sound recordist and last but not least Australian Pop Sensation Kyle Melounge.

Blue produced by Shree Astivinak Cine Vision, There last two offerings Kidnap and Luck was box office Duds. The question arise here whether Blue also turn box dud or the movie has potential to carry audience expectations in a particular manner. Blue in directed by debutant director Anthony D’Souza.

BLUE is set in the sun-soaked white sand beaches of Bahamas. Sagar [Sunjay Dutt] is fisherman while his friend Arav [Akshay Kumar] is a rich business man. Lara Dutta is Sagar Girl friend. Sagar brother Sam [Zayed Khan] managed to escape from mafia [Rahul Dev] and arrives n Bahamas. But the Dangrous man Rahul Dev arrives Bahamas to. Sam wants help of his brother Sagar but Sagar refuse to do so.

If you Technically observe the plot of the movie the plot is pretty ordinary and audience can easily realise that Arav [Akshay Kumar] is mastermind behind this scenario and he was responsible of this happenings in the life of Sagar and Sam.

The First Half of the movie is pretty boring and slow although there are some twist and turns in second half but the weak script is the major drawback here. Although no doubt the stunt are wonderfully picturized especially the bike scene between Sam and Akshay Kumar has done with ease. Remember the underwater fighting sequence here.

A.R.Rehman does a commendable job here, Blue theme, Fiqrana and Bhoola Tughay are at the best. Resul Pookutty as a sound designer has done wonderful job. James D. Bomalick and R.P. Yadav provided wonderful action sequences. Mayur Puri dialogues was effective.y ou can’t stop admiring and appreciating the enormous contribution of the underwater cinematographer Pete Zuccarini. Laxman Utekar cinematography is adorable.

On acting Front Akshay Kumar leads with his brilliant performance. He done his role with finess and ease. Sunjay Dutt also did commendable job. But in some scenes he seems tired. Zaid Khan is passable though he did his best but could not deliver his best performance, Rahul Dev is impressive and Effictive in brief role. Kabir Bedi is hardly there. He appears in only one scene. Lara Dutta is gorgeous and sensuous in bikini scene especially in Ajj Dil Gustaakh hai. Katrnia Kaif is effective in small Role.

To Sum it up, Blue is quite stylish movie but unfortunately weak script is major let down Although Anthony D’Souza tries hard to tell the story. At the business point of view the movie opens well thanks to it’s hype but falls after its good opening. Overall it seems to be average fare at box office.

It's time to pop champagne...

BLUE, the most awaited movie of the year, with its canvas as huge as the ocean, comes alive on the Hindi screen this Friday. Like every biggie, this one also comes with the baggage of monumental expectations. With tremendous hype surrounding it, the inescapable question that crosses your mind is, will BLUE live up to those colossal expectations?

Let me keep it concise and to the point. You haven't watched something like this on the Hindi screen before. Never ever!

It requires courage, willpower, fortitude, vision and of course, the financial backing to accomplish a project of this magnitude. And debutante director Anthony D'Souza puts his skills and the financial resources to best use. BLUE is not merely a stunning looking film, it's also a well structured film. Most importantly, it's a solid entertainer that packs in so much in those 1.58 hours.

Final word? Go, grab a ticket, if you haven't booked one yet. This under-sea treasure hunt is a kickass film. A must-see for all those who love adventure flicks.

Sagar's brother Sameer aka Sam [Zayed Khan] has inadvertently managed to rankle the mafia in Bangkok [Rahul Dev]. He flees Bangkok and arrives in Bahamas. But the dangerous men reach Bahamas too. Sagar is the sole person who can bail him out from this crisis, but to save his brother, Sagar has to wrestle with the ghost of his dead father.

If you're a die-hard moviegoer, you'd draw parallels with a lot of international projects [especially THE DEEP] that were set in the ocean. In Bollywood, flashes of the Dharmendra - Jeetendra starrer SAMRAAT cross your mind instantaneously, but comparing the two is akin to comparing chalk and cheese.

BLUE grabs your attention from its opening titles itself. The marine life, which you may've watched on National Geographic Channel or Animal Planet, comes alive in all splendour at the start itself.

The story is uncomplicated and Anthony D'Souza garnishes it beautifully. If the aquatic life keeps your eyes wide open, the action sequences are sure to make your jaws drop to your knees. The bike chase at the start, yet another chase subsequently, the chase soon after the interval [atop a running train] is simply astounding.

Anthony's expertise comes to the fore in several sequences. One sequence that needs to be singled out is when Sanju narrates the tragic past, how he was responsible for his father's death. It's simply incredible!

Major portions of the film have been filmed in the ocean and you can't stop admiring and appreciating the enormous contribution of the underwater cinematographer [Pete Zuccarini]. The lighting in those sequences deserves special mention. Also, the underwater sequences, which feature aquatic life like puffer fish, stingrays and sharks, hold tremendous appeal. Cinematography [Laxman Utekar] is gorgeous.

On the flip side, the climax could've been more impactful. The villain's track looks clichÃ©d, but you tend to overlook the minor aberration since the film never falls prey to mediocrity.

Anthony D'Souza is a director to watch. This film has style as well as substance. Also, it requires courage and conviction to think out of the box and most importantly, execute the material with panache. There's not much scope for music in an action thriller, yet A.R. Rahman's score suits the requirements. The Kylie Minogue track - 'Chiggy Wiggy' - is already popular. Sanju and Lara's romantic track - 'Aaj Dil' - is sensuous. The song at the end credits - 'Fiqrana' - has a lot of energy.

Sound design [Resul Pookutty] is fantastic. Action scenes [James D. Bomalick and R.P. Yadav] are a treat and, in fact, one of the mainstays of the film. Dialogues [Mayur Puri] are effective, while the screenplay [Anthony D'Souza and Jasmine D'Souza] is well thought-out, especially towards the second hour.

Sanjay Dutt carries his part well, although he looks very well-fed in some scenes. Akshay Kumar steals the show with a sterling performance. This would easily classify amongst his best works. Zayed Khan is highly competent. This, despite the fact that he's sharing the screen space with two hugely experienced actors.

Lara Dutta has never looked so good before. Though the story revolves around the guys, you can't overlook Lara's small but significant contribution to the film. Katrina Kaif [sp. app.] looks gorgeous and performs exceedingly well. The feminine charm [at the start specifically] would send the youth in a frenzy. Rahul Dev is first-rate. Kabir Bedi is hardly there.

On the whole, BLUE has style as well as substance. The film has everything going in its favour, right from its incredible star cast to the superb action scenes to the hitherto unseen marine life to the tremendous hype and hoopla. At the box-office, BLUE will strike like a hurricane in the festive week. It should set new benchmarks in days to come. In short, the business will be humungous.

Let's come to the point straight away. When you've films like LAGAAN, SWADES and JODHAA AKBAR to your credit, every step you take, every move you make comes under a microscopic view. Naturally then, the expectations from Ashutosh Gowariker's WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? are monumental.

There's another reason why WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? is special. Casting the same actor in 12 different roles is nothing short of a challenge - for the film-maker, for the writer and also for the actor in question.

Now let's analyze. WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? works in parts. There are 12 raashees, which means 12 independent stories, plus there's a story of the dulha [Harman Baweja] and his family as well, also there's a story of a family-friend [Darshan Jariwala] running concurrently. That makes it 14 stories, 13 songs, approx. 3.20 hours running time...

Now to the vital question: Does WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? work?

Let me answer this question by raising a vital point. Did the running time [of 3 + hours] of SHOLAY, HUM AAPKE HAIN KOUN, LAGAAN, JODHAA AKBAR and GHAJINI bother you? I am sure, it didn't. The problem with WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? is not its length/running time. The problem is its content.

If any film stands on a weak foundation [writing], even 1.30 hours seem never-ending. Conversely, if the writing is power-packed, even 3.30 hours of entertainment seems less. Let's not blame the length, for the biggest grosser of the world to date - TITANIC - also had a running time of 3.17 hours.

WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE?, unfortunately, lacks the power to keep you hooked and that's the prime reason why its running time/length is sure to be criticised.

Oh yes, WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? has some wonderful moments and award-worthy performance[s] by Priyanka Chopra, but everything pales into insignificance when the written material is weak.

To cut a long story short, WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? is a king-sized disappointment from one of the finest storytellers of India.

WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? is the story of Yogesh Patel [Harman Baweja], a young man who, in his heart, has always wanted a love marriage. Till suddenly he is told that he must find his dream girl within ten days to save his family from utter ruin. Finding the dream girl is tough enough. Finding her in a hurry is even tougher.

His solution is simple; he will meet one girl from each raashee - sun sign, as he feels that is the best way to make sure he finds a suitable wife, while also giving himself twelve chances to fall in love. Two meetings per day gives him six days to meet them, three days to make the final decision and he can get married on the tenth day, or so he thinks.

Based on the novel 'Kimball Ravenswood' by Madhu Rye, the concept of WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? is interesting, but the big screen adaptation isn't. To start with, you connect with barely a few stories, mainly the one who has a past and also the final one, of an underage girl. But several stories appear ridiculous and hence, ruin the impact generated by several wonderful moments. The jeweller's daughter, who believes in punar janam, falls flat. Ditto for the other jeweller's daughter, who pretends to be childish so as to test the intentions of the dulha. It's farcical. But the most ludicrous one is the businesswoman who has a pre-nuptial agreement in place, even before meeting the dulha.

Even Darshan Jariwala's track, towards the end specifically, tests the patience of the viewer. The detective drama is also ludicrous. Besides, the climax is far from convincing. The nanaji appears suddenly with a bagful of currency and the dues of the moneylenders and goons are settled soon after the saat pheras. How convenient!

Even the choice of the girl is debatable, since she has chosen him on a rebound [when she found that her lover was cheating on her]. In fact, the dulha had, rightfully, thought of the girl with the past and should've settled with her instead. That would've been a convincing finale.

Ashutosh Gowariker gets it wrong this time thanks to the poor screenplay. The writing is the biggest culprit here. Sohail Sen's music is easy on the ears, but why so many songs? A few songs can easily be deleted. Piyush Shah's cinematography is perfect.

WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? belongs to Priyanka Chopra. No two opinions on that. Words would fail to do justice to the remarkable portrayal of twelve different characters by this actor. This is her finest work to date. Harman is extremely likable and enacts his part with complete understanding. Darshan Jariwala is alright. Anjan Srivastava is as usual. Visshwa Badola is first-rate. Pratik Dixit does well.

On the whole, WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? is a king-sized disappointment.

Wanted Hits

Salman Khan's Wanted looks likely to emerge the biggest of 2009 till date. Although it is hard to be 100% sure just yet but the chances look good that it will beat the near 33 crore distributor share of Love Aaj Kal.

Wanted is like a juggernaut at single screens with even house full boards going up on Wednesday. The business in multiplexes has also settled well. This week's major release What's Your Rashee has weak reports and a terrible advance and Dil Bole Hadippa has dropping collections which will leave Wanted a clear run in its second week. Another added advantage is that Monday is a holiday for Dusshera which fill further boost collections.

The first week share for Wanted is looking to be at least 21 crore and looking at the steady collections on Wednesday, the film has chances of doing 35 crore share or even more in the long run.

Wanted Promo Rocks Big Time

The first promo of Wanted which was included in the prints of Love Aaj Kal has been met with a thunderous response all over. The reports from Delhi, Lucknow, Kolkata, Jaipur, Indore etc are extraordinary. As soon as Salman Khan appeared in the promo people started to scream and whistle like mad and it went on for the duration of the promo.

There are reports that suggest that the crowd noise was so loud that the sound or dialogues of the promo could not be heard. All there was to hear were the screams and whistles of the public.

Wanted looks all set for a huge opening when it opens on 18th September 2009.

Love Ajj Kaal Movie Review

Jai and Meera are a very today couple. They noodle around in London, figuring out if they are, like, together. That entails mugs of black coffee and lots of smart chatter, and eventually, a parting of ways, because they can’t quite get a handle on their feelings. Like, love, you know, who knows?

LOVE AAJ KAL is not an easy film to write and execute. Sure, it's a love story, but it's not one of those mundane love stories that talks of love and heartache. Here, the two stories, set in different eras, run parallel, but have a similar end.

To be brutally honest, it takes time to grasp the plot, since the past and present run concurrently. If you aren't attentive, chances are you'd lose the plot. Also, if you aren't aware by now that Saif enacts dual roles in the film -- playing his part as also the part of young Rishi Kapoor -- the goings-on would confuse you no end, when the transition occurs.

Jai [Saif Ali Khan] and Meera [Deepika Padukone] is a modern-day couple in London. They are very happy together, but do not believe in tying each other down. Veer does not understand how Jai can treat matters of the heart without passion. Jai does not understand how Veer Singh could have been so naive and silly about Harleen in his youth. But as both stories unfold, we realize that the process of relationship might be different in different eras, but the experience of being in love remains the same.

LOVE AAJ KAL travels multiple continents and different eras. The subject matter is novel, never attempted before, but the material, the characters [Saif and Deepika especially] as also its execution is targeted at the youth in big cities mainly. As they say in filmi lingo, this one's a hardcore multiplex movie.

Another area where Imtiaz Ali experiments is by depicting Saif as the young Rishi Kapoor. It's a novel concept, no two opinions on that, but the question is, will it cut ice universally? Will people tend to get confused when the sequences turn sepia?

The film captivates in bits and spurts in the initial portions. Partly because the writing is so different. But the writing breaks new grounds in the second hour. It's in this hour that the film grips you completely, when the fragmented pieces are put together and a mesmeric picture emerges.

The second hour is the soul of the film. Right from the time Deepika decides to marry, till the last reunion, the film touches an emotional high. The sequence of events that lead to the culmination is incredible. Saif's interaction with Deepika at the marriage, or the gradual change in Saif's behaviour in the U.S. in the course of a song, or the realisation that marriage was a big mistake... moments like these take LOVE AAJ KAL to dizzy heights.

Imtiaz Ali is a genius. The film bears the stamp of an accomplished storyteller. This is a forward-thinking film that handles the new-age relationships with complete understanding. The songs compliment the goings-on beautifully. This is amongst Pritam's accomplished works. 'Twist' [already a rage], 'Aahun Aahun' [foot-taping], 'Chor Bazaari' [melodious] and 'Dooriyaan' [melancholic], each song is a gem. N. Natarajan Subramaniam's cinematography is fantastic. Editing [Aarti Bajaj] is wonderful.

Both Saif and Deepika come up with their career-best performances in LOVE AAJ KAL. Saif carries the most difficult parts with remarkable ease. Sure, we've seen him as the cool, urban guy in several films, but this one's the most demanding role and only a seasoned actor could've delivered it with such precision.

Deepika looks ethereal. Most importantly, in LOVE AAJ KAL, she acts very, very well. Matching up to Saif is no mean achievement and she does it in several scenes. This should be the turning point in her career. Rishi Kapoor is top notch. The actress enacting the role of Harleen is pretty. Rahul Khanna does well in a small, but significant role. Watching Neetu Kapoor in the end sequence is truly astonishing. She's so graceful.

On the whole, LOVE AAJ KAL is for the young and romantic at heart. Sure, it's not perfect, but the terrific performances, melodious music and stirring emotional moments [last 35 odd minutes] more than compensate for the hiccups. At the box-office, the film should start with a bang for four factors -- its novel cast, super music, great promotion and yes, Imtiaz Ali, a name that commands respect amongst moviegoers. Released extensively [approx. 1800 screens worldwide], LOVE AAJ KAL will have one of the biggest first weeks in India and also in the international markets. In India, the business will be superb across multiplexes, while single screens might not behave as energetically. But the business at multiplexes will ensure a fantastic recovery of the investment. Internationally, it has the potential to emerge one of the biggest grossers in recent times.

Luck from the promo’s seemed to have glaring similarities with Sanjay Gadhvi’s Kidnap. Starting with the lead stars, Sanjay Dutt and Imran Khan, to babes in bikini’s, action-packed sequences and a director trying to establish himself outside the comfort of a big production house.

Soham Shah director of Dharma Production’s Kaal, is back after a 5 year long hiatus, yet again with a multi starrer. Can ‘Luck’ be Lucky for the director?

Luck is about Musa (Sanjay Dutt) who in an attempt to redefine the betting industry, decides to play with lives of those with luck on their side. He gathers different individuals, from different parts of the world, pitting them against each other. Who survies and how is what Luck is all about!

What works for Luck

The first half hour is good, with the opening train-sequence featuring Sanjay Dutt, shot quiet brilliantly.
The film is high on action and would most certainly impress those who dont watch Hollywood flicks.
Shruti Hassan’s bikini scene is nice, quite asthetically shot. Kamal’s daughter is blessed with good screen presence.
The masses would love Ravi Kissen’s performance.
Mithun Chakraborty and Danny Denzongpa are good.

Why you shouldn’t watch Luck

The script is full of flaws and the poor direction makes things worse.
The climax is weird, including the train sequence when Ravi Kissen fires, what seemed like thousands of bullets, all of which miraculously missed the target.
The sequence shot under water with the sharks, just doesn’t work. Which is a shame, it had tremendous potential to be hair-raising, if only it was executed better.
The roller-coaster like thrill is completely missing. Apart from the first Sanjay Dutt action scene, nothing works.
The dialogues suck outright. The word ‘Luck’ is over-used, literally in every sentence, the actors get to mouth.
Shruti Hassan needs to work on her voice modulation. Her dialogue delivery was quite average.
Imran Khan fails to impress, which is disappointing.
Sanjay Dutt, quite frankly, has nothing much to do. Its More-walk-than-talk kinda role!
Background music is poor.

Overall, Luck is below average to say the least. It should do much better business at single-screens in smaller towns and cities. Collections at multiplexes, especially in metros is expected to be poor and slide further after the initial weekend.

It quite shocking that Bhatt brothers new movie Jashnn turns out a box office flop. Bhatts are flying high due to tremendous success of Jannat and Raaz The Mystery Cintinues. Even Jannat is top grosser for Vishesh Films. But in case of Jashnn all odds turns wrong. Although the movie got good reviews from critcs but the movie did not show potential at the box office.

Jashnn has opened to an extremely poor response of 10-15% which is indiacation that if the movie is not pick up during week ends it will turn box office flop. The big question arises here what went wrong for the movie. The answer of this question is simple lack of face value and dull script. although this is small budjet movie and Bhatts may recover there investments but it is crystal clear now the movie is flop.

Another thing which i like to mention here Harry Potter 6 does a fablous business and did effect on the Jashnn also. Another interesting point is that Bhatts success is collide with Emraan Hashmi. Emraan Hasmhi is the Guy who gives the big success to Bhatts like Murder, Gangster, Jannat, Razz2.

Even the movies of Fantablous songs to but fails to create the magic. After watching the movie Bhatts also know that move has not potential to conquer the box office.

Kaminey Music Review

Sometimes, unexpected movies are promoted in such a way that they become "one of the most awaited movies of the year." Kaminey is one such movie. The movie's director is known to be maverick enough to try out zany, wacky, and hard-hitting stuff. While movies like The Blue Umbrella and Makdee have been a hit with the children and/or families, bringing a smile to their faces, his other movies like the hard-hitting Maqbool and Omkara have boasted of taut, hard-hitting stuff that shook the audiences with the stuff it had. One thing is for sure - Vishal Bhardwaj is a true perfectionist. There was just one problem with his movies - they weren't promoted well at all. The box-office collections of Maqbol, Omkara and The Blue Umbrella have proved testimony to the fact. But it seems, this time, the director has realised his mistake, and has gone out for a fantastic promotion for this movie, the title of which is used as a regular slang by the Mumbaikars of today while speaking Hindi. The trailers are out, and people are going nuts on the song being promoted in the trailers. This means that UTV has gone all-out in promoting a movie that looks like it has a storyline which has not been used a lot (capers, last used in the hit comic fact/fiction thriller 99), and could be a hit with the tastebuds of the moviegoers. Now that the music of this much-awaited movie is out, will the people be satisfied by the musical dish presented by the director himself (who has also composed the music for the movie)?

The answer is - YES! And how! All the songs are pure charbusters which will be a hit with today's youth which is looking for some amazing Bollywood music to suit their tastes. The elders also won't be disappointed, what wioth the retro feel in some of the songs.

Opening with the much awaited 'unofficial' theme song of the movie, strangely called Dhan Te Nan. Starting with the trumpet that made the song so famous, it progresses on to retro-styled beats, after which Sukhwinder Singh opens the song with as much vibrance, energy and zaniness that Vishal Dadlani continues with. The rap by Robert "Bob" Omulo is apt and doesn't go overboard. Vishal's rough, husky vocals remind one of R. D. Burman, whose eclectic retro styled songs are remembered even till today. But the youth need not worry, 'cause they will be hooked to the song by the first hear itself. The rap in the second half by Sukhwinder Singh is amazing, and will make the people try and mimick it. The music is eclectic, what with it's eclectic feel and styling. I guess I'm already singing now. What are you waiting for? Buy the disc, play track one, and go Dhan Te Nan!

This one probably did not need a remix, but when I actually hear the remix, I was amazed, and of course, hooked, with it's even different feel. The R&B/Hip-hop feel in the mix given by Abhijit Vaghani is amazing. The whole essence of the remix is that it keeps it's soul intact while making one love the song even more. I have just one word for the remix - MINDBLOWING! The DJ's will be using this track frequently in clubs in days to come. Dominique Cerejo's seductive vocals work so well alongwih Abhijit Vaghani's rap, which makes it an even more interesting hear! Go for it, as this will give an even more modern, urban and hip feel to the already hooking song.

Next in the offering is something that is a complete antitheses to the previous song. The soft piano rendition is followed by Mohit Chauhan's vocals in a song aptly titled Pehli Baar Mohabbat. One of the most amazing romantic tracks to come in 2009, this song has touching lyrics that go into flashback mode, and at times, make us remember what we call "those sweet moments". It is the lyrics that make the song a striking success. Vishal's music is a high-point, that rises the song to an entirely different level. And that's what makes the song that extra special.

The next track in the offering is another twisted version of Mohit Chauhan's beautiful offering. This one's called Raat Ke Dhaai Baje, where as many as four competent singers come behind the mike to sing their all. Of the four, Suresh Wadkar's vocal's sound surprisingly fresh and fitting, as one would have thought, reading his name behind the vocals, "What the hell is he doing in such a raw-sounding song?" Well, this means we have already predicted what the song is all about, through the names of the rest of the singers present in this track. And we are probably right, as this song has a subtly raw touch, with a modern twist a la Kunal Ganjawala's urban vocals and the rap vocals by Earl. Sunidhi Chauhan is her usual firebrand self. Rekha Bhardwaj is as raw and natural as ever. It is nice and refreshing to hear Suresh Wadkar after a long time. Overall, an amazing track which has that kick.

Well, the remix by Abhijit Vaghani and Aftab Khan ensure that you are hooked to it, atleast in the first hear. Overall, it is not as impressive as their remix to Dhan Te Nan, but good for repeat hearing of the track. I can only say that the remix could have been exploited a bit more, and could have been a bit more experimented with, considering the infectious reggaeton beats, and the overall pace. Well, in other words, an above-average remix to a song that already has an amazing feel.

Ke Bhanwra Bhanwra Aaya Re is what you hear - the seemingly distant vocals are replaced by Sukhwinder Singh's not-so-distant vocals and a crescendo, which makes way to one of the most electrifying tracks given away by Vishal, called (you heard it) Fatak, which remains true to it's title, and makes for one of the most infectious hears in the album. Now, if anyone asked me how was the song, I would say, "Ekdam mast - FATAK yaar, FATAK!". Gulzar's apt lyrics take the song to another level altogether. Sukhwinder Singh pairs up with Kailash Kher to give one of the most vibrant vocals. This was rumored to be an AIDS awareness song - well, it's not entirely an AIDs awareness song, but the last few lines of the song warn us about AIDS in a strangely very non-preachy and poetic way.

Kudos to Gulzar for handling such a sensitive topic with ease and not making it sound uncomfortable. But I guess Vishal Bhardwaj doesn't care if anything sounds uncomfortable - he just wants to deliver the message in the most straightforward way possible. The title of the movie holds testimony to that. People who used to avoid usage of the slander now frequently (and openly) mouth it. Even the radio presenters are forced to use it to credit the title (and a smirk appears on my face). One such radio presenter exasperatedly stated, "Mujhe maaloom nahin tha ki is tarah ka shabd mujhe is tariike se baar baar use karna padega, woh bhi ON AIR!" (translation: I didn't know I'd have to use a word like this in this way, frequently, ON AIR!) Well, coming back to the topic, the lyrics go as follows - "Yeh ishq nahin aasaan, yahaan AIDS ka khatra hai, Patwaar pehen jaana, yeh aag ka dariya hai!" Sukhwinder Singh has taken enough care to sing it as sensitively as possible so that we are left thinking instead of in distaste. There you go, another chartbuster that has the germs to catch up with the listeners. And appropriately enough, this song has no remix (I can hear a few PHEWs (pun intended)).

Sometimes, the last track creates the biggest impact. And this title song is the perfect example of such a track. A haunting pad, followed by appropriate keyboard strokes, makes way for Vishal's equally haunting vocals in this sensitively written song in which the title has been used in good taste - in fact, so sensitively, that it brings a tear or two into your eyes. In fact, the word is so well used that it will never seem like a slang to you. the music is irresistible, and it touches you right there, in the core of your heart. I don't find the need to type out the title of a title song, but if you still want to know it's title - it's Kaminey. Give it a listen, and you'll realise why people never need to shy away from slang if at all it is used meaningfully (I'm not talking about all slangs though).

But that's not the end of the album. The theme piece brings us back to dance-mode. Called Go Charlie Go, aptly titled, maybe after one of Shahid Kapur's characters, Charlie. Brings back memories of the background scores used in the 1978 DON and those (then) stylish thrillers of the 70s. Kudo's to Vishal for bringing retro back in fashion. Farah Khan did it moviewise in Om Shanti Om, and now Vishal does it musically. "Hooking" is the only word I can use for this piece - how I wish it were a bit bigger.

By the end of the album, you alrerady know you are going to play all the songs yet again. Vishal creates a certain punch in the music of this soundtrack that has all the ingredients to make it a hit. While Omkara still sells because of Beedi and Namak, this ome will sell because of all the songs. And believe me, this album will become a commercial blockbuster - well, all of Shahid Kapur's recent movies (Jab We Met, Kismat Konnection) have had fantabulous music, and post Jab We Met, I guess with Kaminey, Shahid Kapur has made a musical hattrick. Well, now it will be decided if the music will be in the stands for a longer time or not. And this will be on the fate of the movie. I don't know why, but I have a strange feeling this movie will click - bigtime - with the audience, and become a sureshot hit at the box office, worldwide.

Yash Raj latest venture new york directed by Kabir Khan released on June 26. Fetching tremendous response as well as local and domestic markets. The opening occupancy is approx 50% to 60% but due to positive reviews the movies picks up and evening show there are occupancy approx 90% to 100%. The movie did very well on weekend and bring huge cheer on the face of distributor and producers.

The net business is above 29 crore of its first week and there are high expectations from the film that it will be cross 50 crore barrier at his run. All credits goes to its star cast and man of the show Kabir Khan.

Here is an interesting thing that movie opens beyond the expectations of the producers and the idea is that movie is opening with average collections but grow up with the passage of time. all ideas went wrong and movie opens with a bang. Congratulation to yash raj who ends the last year with positive note and starts the new year with a bang.

Feroz Khan Passess Away

Veteran actor and filmmaker Feroz Khan, who gave us many entertaining films such as Apradh, Qurbani, Dharmatma, Dayavan and Jaanbaaz passed away early this morning at his Bangalore residence. He was 70 years old. The actor, who was once considered as 'the ultimate style-icon' by many during the 60's and 70's had been in a critical condition for many days now battling cancer.

It's very ironical that Feroz Khan breathed his last in Bangalore, the very city where he was also born in.

Not many may be aware that the flamboyant star made his acting debut as a second lead in the film Didi. After acting in films like Arzoo, Nagin, Mela and Safar, Feroz Khan also ventured into producing and directing films starting with Apradh (1972) and continued all the way till 2003 when his last film as producer-director Janasheen released. Feroz was last seen as the comic don 'RDX' in the 2007 blockbuster Welcome.

The actor cum filmmaker is survived by his son Fardeen Khan and daughter Laila. Filmi Dunia offers its heartfelt condolences to Feroz Khan's family and prays that his soul rests in peace.

Straight (Movie Review)

DOSTANA and FASHION brought homosexuality out of the closet. One assumes STRAIGHT would take it one step ahead. It would look at gays, the relationships, the emotions. It doesn't. On the contrary, it talks of a person who's confused of his sexual preferences, one who doesn't know if he swings or not, is in fact homophobic.

STRAIGHT could've explored all this and more beautifully, without getting preachy, but unfortunately, there's no dum in the screenplay. It's dry and dreary and goes on and on and on... and e

nds up being a boring exercise.

In the midst of central London, a successful Indian restaurant called 'Gaylord' is run by a Londoner of Indian origin called Pinu [Vinay Pathak]. A simple soul at heart, Pinu has many complexes -- a special one being that he is a virgin and has experienced no intimacy with a woman.

After a failed and humiliating experience when Pinu went to India to have an arranged marriage to a traditional girl who finally dumped him at the altar and eloped with her lover, Pinu is broken and disheartened. One day, a young Indian called Kamles [Anuj Chaudhary] comes to his restaurant and asks for a job as a stand-up comedian. Pinu initially refuses, but finally lets him join

as a cook, who also does a stand-up act in the evenings.

On the same day, he hires a new cashier Renu [Gul Panag], a young art student from India, who has a passion for caricatures. Life changes dramatically for Pinu as 'Gaylord' begins to transform...

Director Parvati Balagopalan has chosen an interesting story, but hasn't been able to stretch it for two hours convincingly. In fact, there's no movement in the first hour. The three characters

[Vinay Pathak, Gul Panag and Anuj Chaudhary] keep talking randomly, without coming to the main issue. Besides, the conversation, most of the times, is absolutely bland.

There's a flicker of hope in the second hour. A few sequences are interestingly handled, but what gets served eventually and the time it takes to reach the culmination, the entire journey is so yawn-inducing.

Parvati disappoints this time. Given the fact that the writing lacks meat, there's little that she can do to salvage the show. Music is another drawback. It's more of an intruder. Cinematography too is inconsistent.

Vinay Pathak does his job earnestly, but why take off the shirt again and again? Why this need to show off Vinay's hairy chest? Gul Panag is likable and enacts her part well. Anuj Chaudhary is okay, but it remains unexplained till the end whether he's gay or straight. That's one of the reasons why his relationship with Vinay is least convincing. There should've been some clarity on this issue. Siddharth Kakkar is alright. Rasik Dave and Ketaki Dave provide some laughs.

On the whole, STRAIGHT is as confused as the protagonist in the film.

It is quite sad that the latest film movie of Red Chillies Entertainment Billu Barber earlier named as Billu fails to impress the international audience as well as local audience. Although the movie has quite good star cast Irffan Khan in lead role, Lara Dutta, Rajpal Yadav, Asrani, Om Puri and Sharukh Khan. Sharukh khan is the producer is the movie and he did guest apperance in the movie.

What went wrong of the movie is the script and the story is quite old touch and does not make any impression on audience. The start of the movie is well below the mark approx 30 - 35%. But on Saturday and sunday the movie pick ups and did the decent business but from mondays onwords huge fall noticed in the collection. In overseas the movie is able to do below average business due to king khan presence. The distributor of the movie Suffers the loss of approx 10 to 12 crores.

13 B (Movie Review)

For the most part of this eerie diorama, what else would’ve got our audiences hackneyed? Aye! A disembodied arm chocking one’s neck, ghosts fast-flying across the ceilings and nooks of the screen space, victim shuddering over worrying vexations and lastly, everything disappearing due to spiritual powers. Merely, these were so clichéd that they fail to scare even children these days. They would term it “silly”.

13B, directed by Vikram Kumar, belongs to the same family as THE RING and PULSE. No, it's not a copy of these two films, but there's an uncanny resemblance: A home appliance is used by the spirits to convey their message.

To give the credit where it's due, 13B involves you in the proceedings and most importantly, scares you as well. But the director, who also happens to be the writer of the film, ought to know an unwritten rule for movies of this genre. Cut it short. 13B is stretched, sorry over-stretched by at least 25-30 minutes and you just can't help but exclaim, 'Enough! Come to the point please.'

The film opens with Manohar’s (Madhavan) felicitous family moving into a new apartment on 13th Floor. A lovable family indeed, for we happen to witness their elated life of brothers occupied in corporate companies gagging-around in, their wives (Maddy’s wife – Neetu Chandra) preparing delicious dishes and their mom (Poonam Dhillon) an ardent buff of Saas-Bahu serials not ready to miss even a minute of the episode.

As the TV show unfolds, the incidents that happen in the show start happening to Manohar and his family. Initially, a number of happy events take place and a lot of good things happen, both in the show and with Manohar's family. Then things take a turn for the worse and shocking incidents start happening in the TV show.

Will the same happen to Manohar and his family? Will Manohar be able to solve the mystery in time before it consumes him and his entire family?

Vikram has played his cards right in bring out the best of thrills with unexpected twists and turns. Yeah! If you think you’re smart enough to predict what’s gonna happen next, you would fail miserably. The story keeps shifting at the right momentum that keeps everyone edge-seated. The filmmaker blends the spine-tingling horror with equal proportions of romance, family and what not? You’ve got a bit of humorous things too… At no point, the screenplay goes dropping back. Characterizations have been brilliantly depicted right from the protagonist till the smart black dog that serves its best.

Impertinently, Madhavan is excellent in picking the right scripts and he’s sure to make it big if he continues striding on the same path. Be it his romantic appeal or in the most of mixed-up situations, he’s top-notching. Although, we don’t see other characterizations limned so perfectly, they are up with their best efforts.

In exact terms, technical aspects eclipse the characters’ show. P.C. Sriram’s mind-boggling cinematography with unique sepia-bounded tones provides the film a different shade. Though songs aren’t more appealing, the background score is awesome. If the song ‘Sab Khariyat Hai’ has a pleasant touch, there’s something different you experience every time this song comes along the show. Editing by Sreekar Prasad is so elegant that it adds up building tension in every passing moment.

On the whole, ‘13B’ is one such unforeseen flick of horrendous genre that remains in your minds post-the show. It’s the best made horror film of the decade. Along the lists of top-charting directors Ram Gopal Varma and Vikram Bhatt, who made the best horror films, here’s Vikram Kumar striking jackpot with 13B.

Not one but two Oscars to the legend of Indian music. A.R. Rahman has created history winning two Oscars for the Danny Boyle film the 'Slumdog Millionaire'. Rahman won the awards for the Best Original Song for 'Jai Ho..' and the Best Original Score. The film that was nominated in ten categories has swept the Academy Awards night winning eight Oscars. Rahman said he was blessed that his mother was with him. He said he always had a choice in life between love and hate and he chose love.

This is the first time that an Indian is walking away with two Oscars and also this is the first time that two Indians are receiving Oscars in the same year. Resul Pookutty has received an award for the best sound mixing. All the channels are abuzz with tele-cons with the child artists, the actors and all associated with the film that has created history. Veteran singers including Lata Mangeshkar and K.J. Yesudas have congratulated Rahman for creating history.

'Slumdog' has emerged as the personal favorite for many!

Politicians including Sonia Gandhi and P. Chidambaram have congratulated both the Indians for making the country proud. It was just great to see the entire 'Slumdog' team come to the dais when Slumdog won the best picture award.

Trust us; it's an unforeseen 'Wall of Old Dilli' where nothing rules, but everyone is surmounted with humanity. Of course, the auteur unravels the beauty of not just the street corners, jelabi shops, but heart-binding relationships… An appealing relationship between various communities has been decorously depicted that draws us straight into streets of Chandni Chowk. Perhaps, it's not 'too-sweet-for-the-heart' moments as there are peculiarities of caste-communalism differences that get us through a chain of unexpected sequences.

In America, having led a very western lifestyle, Roshan is not familiar with the sites and smells, the food and culture, the religion and beliefs, this huge melting pot that India is. He believes that Dadi had left her family and loved ones back in America, only to realize that how wrong he was.

The warmth and affection of the neighbourhood embraces him with open arms. Amidst all this he meets the beautiful Bittu [Sonam Kapoor], who wants to break free from the typical Indian social structure, to whom Roshan is destined to lose his heart.

That Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is an accomplished storyteller is evident in several individualistic scenes. Note the scene when Vijay Raaz slaps Abhishek and Abhishek slaps him back. Also, portions in the second hour, when a Baba [Akhilendra Mishra] triggers off the Mandir-Masjid talk and divides the two communities, is very well structured. The sequences are disturbing and the writers and director succeed in exposing the fickle-minded people residing in the locality.

But the screenplay isn't foolproof. The romantic track is the weakest link in the enterprise. The love story falls flat. Also, the ending is so abstract that an average moviegoer would find it difficult to comprehend what the actual culmination is. The sequence in the end, when Amitabh and Abhishek have a conversation, looks weird. In fact, ridiculous. What was the need to have this sequence? It makes no sense. Even the Ram Leela sequences, interspersed at regular intervals, are forced in the screenplay.

Rakeysh's handling of the subject is exemplary at places. But the writing [faulty at times] as also the execution of the material isn't the type that would appeal to all sections of moviegoers. A.R. Rahman's music is outstanding; it's easily amongst his finest works. 'Masakali', 'Ye Dilli Hai Mere Yaar', 'Rehna Tu', 'Maula' and 'Genda Phool' are amazing tracks. Ditto for Prasoon Joshi's lyrics; they're gems. Binod Pradhan's cinematography is brilliant. Watch the Jama Masjid sequence [breath-taking] or the camera movements in the bylanes of old Delhi. Just one word to describe the output: Incredible!

Abhishek doesn't work. Also, his American accent looks fake. Sonam is likable. Waheeda Rahman enacts her part well. Rishi Kapoor is wasted. He deserved a better role. Amongst supporting actors, Om Puri [powerful], Pawan Malhotra [flawless], Vijay Raaz [tremendous], Deepak Dobriyal [genuine], Divya Dutta [admirable] and Cyrus Sahukar [likable] leave a mark.

Prem Chopra is alright. Atul Kulkarni looks like a buffoon. And what is Raghvir Yadav doing in this film? Supriya Pathak, Tanvi Azmi, K.K. Raina, Akhilendra Mishra and Dayashanker Pandey are passable. Amitabh Bachchan's presence in the penultimate minutes fails to evoke any reaction.

On the whole, DELHI 6 has a terribly boring beginning [first hour], an absorbing middle [second half] and a weak end [climax]. At the box-office, the business is bound to be divided. The film may record bountiful collections at multiplexes in its opening weekend. The popular music as also the fact that there's no major opposition will benefit the film in the initial days. But the business at single screens as also the mass belt will be a shocking contrast. However, the cracks will start appearing sooner than expected, even at plexes. Thumbs down!

Billu Movie Review

Priyadarshan is synonymous with ha-ha-thons, but the talented storyteller has been equally proficient while handling intense dramas like SAZA-E-KALA PANI, GARDISH and VIRASAT. Like VIRASAT and MALAMAAL WEEKLY, BILLU, the accomplished director's new outing, is also set in a hamlet.

Although the story has been attempted in Malayalam [KADHA PARAYUMBOL] and Tamil [KUSELAN] earlier, the story actually takes its inspiration from the legendary friendship between Lord Krishna and Sudama. In this case, the story talks of the friendship between a superstar and an ordinary mortal who runs a salon.

Priyadarshan may have boasted that he hasn't copycatted from the Tamil remake on any aspect, but not even the location has been changed… Even the blunder committed by P. Vasu has been replicated by Priyadarshan. In Malayalam version, Meena was portrayed perfectly for the role of a lower class family which was completely different in the Tamil as well as Telugu version. Of course, watching Lara Dutta as a housewife from a hapless family background is somewhat absurd. She's embellished with best facial make-overs and that doesn't fit her with finesse.

Bilas Rao Pardesi (Irrfan Khan) is a poor barber in town leading a wretched life with his wife Bindiya (Lara Dutta) and a couple of kids. Their life is studded with bittersweet experiences and they are much stricken by poverty. Bilas isn't able to meet his daily demands, not even making up for his children's school fee. But things aren't the same once a film unit reaches the town and actor is none other than Superstar Sahir Khan (Shah Rukh Khan).

Ten minutes into the film and you get absorbed into Billu's small world. The salon is in bad shape, the family is facing tough times, the neighbours and acquaintances are fair-weather friends... Billu's life gets grim with each passing day.

The story takes an interesting turn when Billu's life collides with the superstar's. And the assorted characters -- right from an aspiring poet/lyricist [Rajpal Yadav], to a stingy money lender [Om Puri], to the principal of the school [Rasika Joshi] -- everyone wants favours from Billu. These characters only make BILLU more interesting.

Priyadarshan is adept at handling relationships and with BILLU, he proves he can handle emotions with as much flourish as comedy. To tell a simple, uncomplicated story, without the usual frills, is an arduous task indeed and Priyadarshan tackles the material with remarkable ease. The humour here is subtle, not loud, and a constant smile remains on your face all through.

Mushtaq Shiekh and Priyadarshan's screenplay is foolproof. In fact, the writing never loses focus and the highs and the lows in Billu's life are sensitively penned by the duo. Manisha Korde's dialogues are simple, gelling with the mood of the film.

Pritam's music is energetic. The songs, promoted aggressively prior to the release, only get an impetus thanks to the presence of the three actresses. 'Mar Jaani' and 'Love Mera Hit Hit' are, of course, the pick of the lot. V. Manikandan's cinematography is top notch. The locales [Pollachi] are breath-taking.

Kudos to Irrfan Khan for a splendid spell from this star… of course, he has been doing it in all his previous films. Looks like Priyadarshan hasn't laid his hands on any of the star-casts as everyone seems to have watched the DVDs of all three versions and finally presented it with their own innovative touch. However, as mentioned earlier Lara Dutta's looks could've been much well carried though. She's so rich in her appearance and doesn't look like one stricken by poverty.

Shah Rukh Khan is up with his own style and as usual his charisma grabs your attention. He scores the best during the climax part with an unforeseen show. But why does this film carry so much of commercial factors, say 3 item numbers? That remains a question in your mind when you walk out after watching the film. It spoils the emotional panorama that was more instant in the original version. Rajpal Yadav does a laudable task on his comedy tracks, especially in the penultimate sequences.

On the whole, BILLU is a sweet-n-simple film that lingers in your memory even after the show has concluded. The final 20 minutes are the highpoint of the enterprise and that elevates the status of the film to great heights. The film has the potential to grow with a strong word of mouth. Recommended... Take your family for this one!

Dev D Movie Review

Here comes a dissimilar version to yesteryear classics of 'Devdas' that were so solemnly delivered the words of Sarath Chandra into picture. Well, in an era of cyber mania and lots of changes happening over, one cannot assure about the same classic hitting on top-of-charts. Yeah! Anurag Kashyap brimmed with such a motif strike a different note based on same lines. Of course, when you've Devdas turning into stylish DEV D, there's whole lot of innovative factors blended with some of real life incidents. Moreover, he has spelled a fantabulous piece by limning the characterizations more potently. Dev, Paro and Chanda; they've uniqueness of their own rigidity and that scores good points for Anurag. Alas! Like in much of the recent films, where a perfect script is fumbled with flimsy screenplay DEV D doesn't happen to be an elision. In fact, its stops the film half way from striking Gold and auteur could've perhaps worked the better way (Is it an impact of Anurag's adamant statement in recent interview 'I Do What I want to do'?).

Son of a rich industrialist, who is sent away to London when he was 12, Dev [Abhay Deol] returns to his hometown and to Paro [Mahi Gill], his childhood sweetheart. Inseparable as they seem, a misunderstanding puts their lives in a tizzy; Paro is married off to someone else and Dev goes into severe depression.

Not one to take on responsibilities for his acts, Dev digs deep into drugs and alcohol for salvation. He stays away from home, but his finances still come from a doting father.

Lenny [Kalki] likes to live her life on the edge -- a rich student with a penchant for adventure. After a devastating MMS scandal, she's abandoned by her family and is forced into isolation. As a runaway, she finds shelter with Chunni, a pimp. With great determination and inner strength she adopts an alter ego -- Chanda.

As Chanda, she gets to be a high profile escort by night, while Lenny remains a college student by day. At this juncture, Dev enters her life…

Despite the fact that you know the basic plotline of DEV D even before the reels begin to unfold, what you're keen to know is, how has Kashyap executed the subject? The sequences between Dev and Paro at the start are captivating and the volatile relationship they share makes you realize that Kashyap is on the right track. Note the altercation between Dev and Paro, which prompts Paro to marry Bhuvan, who's much older to her, besides being a father of two

On the performance, Abhay Deol steals the show with a colossal piece of work. His smart looks and matured performances has it all peaking him to score great. Well, couple of actresses has delivered their best doing justice to their role. Anurag could've focused a bit more on Koechlin as she has got a solid characterization, but goes middling with her performance.

A prodigious work trenchantly showcased by entire technical crew. Looks like Anurag is vividly influenced by Greg Harrison's 'November' and Pedro Almodover, the world's best filmmakers using stylish colors on the screen. Doubtlessly, they have been few amongst small group of avant-garde filmmakers who have narration and technical aspects scoring best equally. Kashyap tries making different attempts on technical panoramas of musical score and editing. Possibly, he could've made it stunning in screenplay too…

On the whole, DEV D is a good film made with best experimentations by Anurag Kashyap. And even you can watch the film for a try out and come up with commendable applause for entire team though latter half is loaded with tenuous attributes.

King Khan has invited over 400 barbers and their families to see the film at the premiere! Interesting concept but why barbers you may ask? Directed by comedy master Priyadarshan the film stars SRK as a super star and Irrfan Khan as a village barber.

Priyadarshan said about the premiere plans, “Instead of having celebs over for the premiere of Billu Barber, Shah Rukh has planned to invite 400 barbers and their families to the premiere. His idea is to welcome barbers for the premiere on February 12, as the film revolves around Irrfan Khan, who plays a barber. Things are just getting organised for the première and the office is also in talks with the barbers’ association to get everything sorted for the big day.”

The film with tagline “It’s special to be ordinary” tells the story of the barber and star's friendship, the two were childhood friends and when the star comes to make a film in the village will the town believe they are friends and will the two meet again? If you're associated with Bollywood, if you know how the machine works, you'd laud and applaud, laugh and smile, identify and understand and at times, empathize and sympathize with the characters in LUCK BY CHANCE. Zoya Akhtar's take on an industry that attracts millions of hopefuls year after year is bang on target.

When you've a legend Javed and a fantastic filmmaker accompanying her on the button, with a gripping storyline and perfect casting (including guest appearances of superstars) is what makes 'Luck By Chance' fantastic. The fantasy sellers and the devoted audience, the insane love for Cinema mixed with the eccentric notion of divinity and archaic beliefs; these are the contradictions that keep this world spinning.

LUCK BY CHANCE taps almost every important facet of Bollywood and presents assorted characters you've encountered some time in life: An over-ambitious aspirant who knows to make the right moves; an actress trying hard to get that big break, even if she has to compromise; an icon of the 1970s who desperately wants her daughter to be a star; a producer who looks at riding on big names, script be damned; a failed actor now looking at direction to redeem his career.

The verdict? Leave aside everything and hitch this joyride called LUCK BY CHANCE. It would be sacrilege to miss this one!

Sona [Konkona Sen Sharma] arrives in Mumbai with dreams of becoming a film star. She does whatever it takes, to make it. Vikram [Farhan Akhtar] has just moved to the city leaving the comforts of his Delhi home. He is used to getting what he wants and is smart enough to know when to demand it and when to manipulate it. Gradually, Sona and Vikram develop a romantic relationship.

Rolly [Rishi Kapoor] is a successful though superstitious producer who only works with the biggest stars. He is making a potential blockbuster launching Niki [Isha Sharwani], the daughter of 1970s superstar Neena [Dimple Kapadia]. The hero of the film, Zaffar Khan [Hrithik Roshan], is the superstar.

Zaffar decides to opt out of Rolly's film and that creates havoc in Rolly's life. Rolly decides to cast newcomers and finally, Vikram is shortlisted for the main role.

LUCK BY CHANCE picks up characters straight out of life and that's the beauty of this script. The interesting part is that each of these characters has a story running parallel to the main story. Although the writing is foolproof, this review would be incomplete if one failed to acknowledge a number of scenes that are the hallmark of this enterprise..

If Zoya's writing is superb, her execution of the written material deserves distinction marks. This may be Zoya's directorial debut, but she treats the difficult subject like a veteran. Javed Akhtar's dialogues are remarkable. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy's music is a mixed bag; the score could've been better. However, the choreography of the circus song is remarkable. Carlos Catalan's cinematography captures the right moods.

Farhan Akhtar is evolving into one of the most dependable actors of his generation. He's very real, very believable. No wonder, this character stands out. Konkona Sen Sharma is exceptional. The supremely talented actress delivers a sparkling performance yet again. Rishi Kapoor is incredible. A performance that merits the highest praise. Dimple Kapadia is in terrific form. It easily ranks amongst her most accomplished works. Juhi Chawla is first-rate. Isha Sharwani does her part well. Sanjay Kapoor springs a surprise. He registers an impact. Aly Khan is perfect.

Hrithik Roshan is truly wonderful. Note the sequence when he strikes a conversation with Karan Johar, only to realize that he himself had paved the way for Farhan in the industry. Only an accomplished actor could've handled this sequence with aplomb. Amongst the A-listers who make fleeting appearances in the film, the one who registers the maximum impact is Shah Rukh Khan.

On the whole, LUCK BY CHANCE is an outstanding film in all respects. A magnificent outing from the producers of ROCK ON!!, LUCK BY CHANCE is sure to prove an extremely lucky and rewarding experience at the box-office.

Delhi6 Music Review

One might say 2008 was the year of Rahman. While songs from Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Jodha Akbar, Ghajini, and Yuvraaj topped the Indian charts, A R Rahman enthralled international audiences with the extraordinary musical score he created for Slumdog Millionaire. As Rahman bagged the Golden Globe for Best Original Score, he left the Indian film fraternity delighted and proud.

The maestro commences the New Year by scoring for the eagerly awaited Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra vehicle, Dehli 6. Rahman and Mehra previously worked together on the critically acclaimed Rang De Basanti and gave the audience as powerhouse of an album. It is needless to say that audiences may very likely expect a repetition of that phenomenon. Let's Start with magical ride of Delhi6 Music.

Masakali
The albums gets on a winning start with Masakali. If the song's promo did not impress you, the whole track is bound to change your mind. Mohit Chauhan is heard like never before. The playful, teasing and youthful rendition is to die for. What was he doing singing mediocre tracks for Pritam all this time? Joshi's lyrics are particularly impressive this time round. The choice of words are incredible, especially 'paank jhatak gayi dhool atak'. Musically, the track is obviously first-rate. The accordion gives the song a frivolous and soulful touch. It's as if amazing musical and lyrical work was not enough, 'Masakali' proves to be infectiously catchy as well.

Aarti (Tumre Bhavan Mein)
It's Prasoon's heart-warming lyrics that make the song exceptional in the album. Rahman is exceptional when it comes to blending melody with simple instrumentations. Yup! All throughout 180 seconds, we hear a single-noted Veena with simple beats on cymbals blended with a mesmerizing chorus humming. Perhaps, an ardent fan of Rahman should've heard of similar genres in his Tamil composition for 'Alaipaayudhe Kanna'…

Arziyan
Next is Arziyan, a magnificent qawali by Javed Ali and Kailash Kher. Javed Ali's recent offering, 'Guzarish' may have been half-baked but he gives a knock-out performance in this track. He and Kailash make an incredible pair and the result is outstanding. Memories of Rahman's last qawali, 'Piya Haji Ali' for Khalid Mohammad's Fiza immediately spring into mind. Prasoon Joshi has penned brilliant lyrics for this track confirming that what he wrote for Ghajini may have been a lapse of judgment

Bhor Bhaye
The music maestro weaves a spell of magic on 'Hindustani Ghazal' with the same instrumentations of tabla and harmonium used in previous the song. We have an evergreen legend Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan rendering in his voice. Shreya Ghosal adds colour, shifting octaves on her voice which flows in to the listener's ears and Gujri Todi makes it with finesse. Sounds like a live-recording and possibly Rahman should have done it because it adds a naturalistic touch.

Delhi – 6
Delhi 6, is up a next. A roller coaster of song that cleverly alternates between its soft and loud bits, this track is very close to 'Patshala' from Rang De Basanti. It is full of life with an enthusiastic ensemble of singers headed by Blaaze, Benny Dayal, Vivinenne Pocha, Tanvi, and Claire. Joshi's lyrics are once again first rate even though the song is mostly made up of one-liners such as 'yeh Delhi hai mere yaar, bas ishq mohabbat pyar'. It is certainly refreshing to hear a song about Delhi amidst the countless tracks out there about Bombay.

Dil Gira Dafatan
A western style with Ash King's voice and good accompaniment by Chinmayee makes the song so special… Running notes on lead guitars with vibes on intervals is picked by an exceeding orchestration of stringed instruments. Preludes on violin blended with strings offers a feel of heeding to contemporary World Music.

Genda Phool
Need a best illustration for fantastic mix of West 'n' Folk? And you have it here with 'Genda Phool'. Rekha Bharadwaj's unique style of vocalism picks listeners' interest while chorus parts by Shraddha and Sujatha offers enhancement to the song. Sounds alike one of Rahman's previous compositions of 'Shano Shano' from Yuvvrraj and precisely, the chorus part is a bit similar to 'Dil Ka Rishta' from the same album. Rap lines are again the same remix of 'Shano Shano'. We are not sure who Kaala Bandhar is, guess we have to wait for the promos to come out… The song may capture our senses once on the screen.

Rehna Tu defies the popular conception that compromise is inherent to all relationships and instead promises to love one for who they are, no changes necessary. Composed and performed by the maestro himself, 'Rehna Tu' is a loose amalgamation of 'Behka' (Ghajini) and 'Tu Bole' (Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na). The complex melodies could not have been sung by anyone other than Rahman himself. Benny and Tanvi's backing vocals only elevate the song while Joshi pens yet another excellent track.

Possibly, maybe this voiceover is heard in the prologue part of film. Amitabh's catchy-voice uttering the poignant poem on 'Ishq' penned by Prasoon is easily grasping. On instruments, stringed chords following mildly with vibes are heard.

To sum it up Delhi6 is one of the finest and complete album of A.R.Rehman Touching Folk, Classical, Jazz, RnB, It is complete album filled by Rehman Creativity.

Also, in this writer's individualistic opinion, SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE doesn't make a mockery or an attempt to sell the poverty of India to the West.

Sure, SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE depicts life on the mean streets of Mumbai, so what? Doesn't it exist? Should we ridicule the effort it just because a gorahas made it? We don't raise a noise when Indian film-makers do so, so why now? Double standards!

Ever heard about the line 'Reality Bites', you should have. A staggering film that offers you surprises and irresistible shocks that even Mumbaikers wouldn't have noticed. If you're looking out for any messages to be perceived - yeah, you've one. 'Bitter experiences making you stumble down are the stimulants to successes'. Don't assume this to be Danny's statements; but it is for those audiences who expect a solid substance from it.

Accused of cheating and desperate to prove his innocence, an eighteen-year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai reflects back on his tumultuous life while competing to win 20 million rupees on India's 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire' in Danny Boyle's inspirational drama. Jamal Malik (Dev Patel) may not have a penny to his name, but that could all change in a matter of hours. He's one question away from taking the top prize on India's most popular television game show, but as with everything else in Jamal's life, it isn't going to be easy.

SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE keeps you hooked, there's not a single dull moment and most importantly, your heart pines for the lovers [Jamal and Latika] to unite, after all that they've gone through in life. That's one of the prime reasons why SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE works big time.

Check out the list of star-casts, everybody on the title cards steals the show with their exceptional performance sans flawlessness. Dev Patel has an inborn talent that's so evident on his gestures and actions on every frame. The glimpse on his reactions as Irrfan questions 'Who's there on 100 rupee Indian Note?' his fantastic spell of reaction would never stop anyone from applauding. Watching this guy glimpsing on his past for the last question of 'Three Musketeers' and smiling cheerfully, would again make you hail him with praises. 'An outstanding actor' and that's it.

Well, you don't have Frieda Pinto appearing for more than 30mins (3 different girls on different ages of Latika's characterization). But, gets her depicted attractive sans a lavish makeover… Madhur Mittal as Older Salim overwhelms with sparkling acting especially in the penultimate sequences. Wanna hear his Punch dialogues? 'Eeee…easy', 'Aaraamse….', 'I'm at the centre of centre'.

Anil Kapoor deserves great appraisals for the bold attempt of picking a characterization of negative shades. Irrfan Khan with his casual efforts picks your attention. Saurabh Shukla does his characterization which is presented with finesse.

The technical aspects are enthralling. We have never seen Mumbai's slums so deeply. The cinematographer doesn't fail to capture even the minutest props with the best-innovative placements of camera angles. Bird's eye view of Mumbai's slums is over-the-top..

As icing on the cake, the Musical score by Rahman makes it big with the visual perception. To a certain extent, title song 'O Saayo' seems to be carrying the traces of opening scene in Fernando Meirelles' 'City of God'. Rahman's earnest involvement in getting along with creative thoughts of the cinematographer and Danny Boyle has yielded the best results. Doubtlessly, 'Jai Ho' and 'O...Saayo' are electrifying making you feel to watch it over again for many times. Nithin Desai's set decoration of 'Kaun Banega Crorepathi' and the marvelous Taj Mahal are a masterpiece.

On the whole, SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE is a must-see! One of the finest films of our times, this one should not be missed for any reason

Perhaps, the title 'Raaz' should've got everyone's adrenalines shot-up, anticipating it to be a stupefying ride of roller-coaster. Well, the 'Bhatt' factor seems to spell tremendous magic when it comes to 'Horror'. Of course, who can refuse it or forget the most scintillating horror flicks released by the 'Bhatts'. Years back it was 'Raaz' and then '1920' had us tied to our seats and now 'Raaz – The Mystery continues' isn't an elision.

Horror as a genre hasn't been tapped to the optimum in India. We've witnessed spooky fares in the past and some of them have succeeded in making you break into a cold sweat [BHOOT stands tall in this list]. Last year's PHOONK and 1920 were scary movies as well.

Does 'Raaz – The Mystery Continues' offer a never-seen-before show of an exceptional storyline? Nah! You've the clichéd plotline of a ghost's unaccomplished desire for seeking revenge. But, the difference comes in the form of the unique intentions of a thirsty soul. Don't get surprised to experience certain replicas of 'The Exorcist', or the Recent Hollywood releases 'Mirrors' or 'Stigmata'. With all these properties Mohit Suri doesn't get you disappointed at any moment of the show.

A successful model Nandita (played by Kangana Ranaut) is in love with a creative director of a television program, Yash (played by Adhyayan Suman). Everything is fine and cool until Nandita's life takes a dramatic turn when she meets an artist, Prithvi (played by Emraan Hashmi). He tells Nandita that all the paintings he has made on her are getting disfigured which spells impending danger for her. Initially, she does not believe him but then she starts facing horrifying situations herself. After this, hell breaks loose and an unstoppable storm begins. Thus unfolds some of the most thrilling horror sequences of Bollywood with 'Raaz – The Mystery Continues…'

Mohit smartly builds up the atmosphere. Sample these: Emraan and Kangna's first encounter at a mall and minutes later, inside an elevator; the New Year bash when Kangna is 'attacked' by spirits; Kangna's experience in her bathtub and also when she looks at the mirror; Kangna almost jumping off a cliff; the highpoint sequence, when angry bulls attack Emraan and Kangna. Incredible sequences all! Mohit has handled the most difficult portions with panache.

Mohit's choice of the subject as also the actors is right. This is, without doubt, his finest effort to date. Shagufta's screenplay is watertight at most times. Like always, the Bhatts come up with a lilting musical score and at least two songs -- 'Soniyo' [Raju Singh] and 'Maahi' [Sharib-Toshi] -- are first-rate compositions. Ravi Walia's cinematography is up to the mark. The effects are impressive.

On the acting front, both Emraan and Kangna vie for top honours. Emraan is excellent. He conveys a lot through facial expressions and that's the sign of a proficient actor. He's just getting better and better with every film. Kangna is top notch. After FASHION, this one's another power-packed performance from the actress. Adhyayan Suman is super-confident and registers a strong impact, especially towards the climax. He shows promise. Jackie Shroff is quite okay in a brief role.

On the whole, 'Raaz – The Mystery Continues' is a superb horror flick with few middling attributes. Although it doesn't happen to be as powerful as '1920', it's worth watching for the enchanting directorial of Mohit Suri.

Perhaps, Chandni Chowk to China has nothing phenomenal, but a timeworn script of a coward transcending into a hero, and an estranged family getting unified. Producers promoted CC2C as 'First Ever Bollywood Kung Fu comedy' and for your kind information, the flick doesn't possess top-notching humorous elements or the splendid Kung-Fu you would expect. Well, you've them in bits 'n' pieces amidst of a very long show, running for 160 minutes. Sluggish screenplay blended with lots of ridiculous factors does get you annoyed and Nikil could have cut the duration short thereby favoring him.

Despite Akki, Ramesh Sippy, Warner Bros and biggies together on the lead, the flick doesn't surmount your expectations. Above all, the most disappointing attribute is that we don't get to see spell-binding stunts choreographed by Huen Chiu-Ku. Naturally, everyone expected there to be ones like "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", "Kill Bill” Volmes. 1 and 2 and "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor". Again, it's all about dashing down our hopes.

A masala film is always welcome. In fact, two desi films [RAB NE BANA DI JODI and GHAJINI] have been lapped up by the junta in a big way, but CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA is an unbearable masala fare that insults the intelligence of the moviegoer.

The problem with CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA is that it lacks a watertight screenplay to keep you glued for those 2.45 hours. Agreed, you don't look for logic and reason in hardcore potboilers, but the least the director and his team of writers could do is provide loads of entertainment. Sadly, writers Shridhar Raghavan and Rajat Aroraa make mincemeat of a plot that had the potential to woo viewers from Chandni Chowk to China to Chicago to Cape Town.

Our protagonist Sidhu (Akshay Kumar) is the lowest on the totem pole, cutting vegetables at a roadside food stall in Chandni Chowk in Delhi. He longs to escape his dreary existence and looks for shortcuts- with astrologers, tarot readers and fake fakirs - believing anything except himself, despite his father figure Dada's (Mithun Chakraborty) best efforts. His redeeming moment arrives when two strangers from China claim him as a reincarnation of a war hero in the past and take him to China. Sidhu now dreams of wine, women, and a princely existence in foreign lands. Thanks to the devious translator, a conman by the name Chopstick (Ranvir Shorey), little does he know that he is being taken to the Promised Land to rid the Chinese village of the vicious smuggler Hojo (Gordon Liu)!

Therefore, Sidhu blissfully sets forth to China with Chopstick who instigates dreams of a delicious future and forgets to reveal the perils, which await him. Along the way, he meets Sakhi (Deepika Padukone), Ms. Tele Shoppers Media (Ms. TSM) who has embarked on a journey to pay homage to the land of her birth and her dead father and twin. Initially, Sidhu through a series of lucky coincidences manages to sidestep being beaten by Hojo's men but finally Hojo catches up with him and exposes him as the country buffoon that he really is. Sidhu has the fire of revenge in his belly and finds the one man who will make him a Kung Fu expert and set the village free. Armed with his Sifu (master), faith in himself and the love of the fair Sakhi, Sidhu sets forth to conquer all!

On face-value, what do you expect from CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA? Laughter unlimited, great martial arts, a glimpse of China. But what's served on the platter is so insipid, so lame, so senseless that you wonder if there was a script in the first place. The comic scenes [that make you laugh] are few and far between. The scenes depicting martial arts are hardly exciting. Also, barring the Great Wall of China, don't expect China darshan here!

There are big holes in the script. Sample these... * How and why do the two oppressed Chinese men suddenly land up in Chandni Chowk in Delhi? Also, how do they zero on Ranvir Shorey? No explanations offered. * Deepika's track of visiting China is trite. Wasn't the twin-sister, an infant, thrown off the Great Wall of China? How did Gordon Liu suddenly decide to bring her up? * Similarly, Deepika's father was also pushed from the Great Wall, but he survives. Akshay too is beaten black and blue and thrown off [coincidentally, from the same place -- Great Wall], but is rescued mid-air by Deepika's father. Miracles never cease to occur, must add.

Nothing to blame on star-casts for they stride with their best spells. Akshay Kumar getting back to pavilion with action-hero is over the top and comedy sense is a splendid show. But, he gets stripped out with an inadequate script. A newfangled Deepika Padukone on dual role steals the show, especially on the characterization of 'Meow-Meow'. Alas! There's nothing such as romance so-touching between Akki and Deepika, blame Nikil Advani for that.

Gordon Liu strikes with a mind-boggling performance. Be it his gestures or his scaring stare, they're awesome. Mithun Chakraborthy with his minimal role makes a good impression (As in his previous flick 'Yuvvraaj'. Ranvir Shorey with his clichéd acting wins appreciations emoting stupendously on all situations.

On the whole, Chandni Chowk to China would have been better if Nikil had penned a substantial screenplay that could've got our attentions from getting scattered. Apart from a few hilarious scenes and Kung Fu (Especially Roti-rolling style), the flick lacks finesse.

Chandni Chowk To China has seen a good response at multiplexes as the advance ticket counters opened yesterday. There is expectation of about 25-30% of the weekend tickets to be sold before the film has its full release on Friday.

The advance is slightly better than Akshay Kumar's last release Singh Is Kinng and Chandni Chowk To China is also likely to get a bigger release which should mean higher grosses. The other Akshay release last year Tashan also had a good advance but it was limited to just single screens as the film did not have a multiplex release which meant even with good advance the overall grosses were low.

The advance is well short of the mind boggling advance of Ghajini which had 50-60% weekend tickets sold prior to Friday morning though Chandni Chowk To China should beat the paid preview 1.75 nett crore record of Ghajini due to the fact it has nearly twice as many paid previews starting from 6PM Thursday evening all over India.

SHAKEEL SIDDIQI 'BEATEN UP' BY MAHARASHTRA NAVNIRMAN SENA ACTIVISTS

Pakistani artistes on Thursday (January 15) condemned the harassment of comedian Shakeel Siddiqi (pictured left) during the recording of a comedy show in Mumbai.

"Performing art people are very sensitive and such kind of treatment in India raises many questions and is very unfortunate," Pakistan's leading comedian Umer Sharif told IANS.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activists on Wednesday (January 14) entered a studio where Siddiqi was shooting for the comedy show "Comedy Circus" and told him to leave for Pakistan.

MNS, led by Raj Thackeray, became notorious last year for violence against people who had come from other parts of India to Maharashtra state, of which Mumbai is the capital.

"I believe he would have gone to India after government's permission and making his trip public through media," Sharif said. He said that this incident will certainly force several Pakistani artistes to stay away from the Indian showbiz industry.

Siddiqi went to Mumbai last week to perform in the show.

According to sources in the Pakistani film industry, at present there are at least six Pakistani artistes in India who are working on different projects.

"I know that at least six of the Pakistani people from our industry are in India but I don't want to name them... none of them have gone there with proper documents like work permit etc and are on visit visas," said a senior producer in the Pakistani film industry, requesting anonymity.

He said that it was responsibility of the host to provide security to the Pakistanis working there. He also criticised the role of Indian High Commission in Islamabad, which he said was "providing them visit visas instead of work visa".

Human rights activist Sohaila Rashid said that the Indian government is responsible for the incident. "This is strange that a Pakistani artiste was beaten up in Mumbai. This shows how responsible is the Indian government," said Rashid, adding it can add to the current tension between the two countries.

Sources in the Foreign Office said that they have asked the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi to immediately contact Siddiqi and repatriate him to Pakistan.

The sources said that the government plans to issue an advisory to Pakistanis who are present in India or planning to travel there on security issues.

"It seems a horrible news and affects the relationship between the film industries of both the countries," said senior film producer Sangeeta. She said that Shakeel was well-known in India and was a source of bringing joy to millions of faces all across the sub-continent.

She said: "I am afraid that this can create further problems."

Dev D had two A's that I had admired, Anurag Kashyap and Abhay Deol. The music adds a third A for Amit Trivedi, the music director who gave different but okayish music in 2008's Aamir, who comes up with an album with an assortment of 18 tracks, quite varied in music, lyrics and treatment, and in lyricists and singers as well. The album running just 93 seconds over an hour consists songs in quite some genres, from rock to classical, techno to folk, and dance numbers to soft melodies. The 18 tracks do not seem too long and boring, and none of them is unfit or unsound. The movie might have most of them in the background, adding to a rich background score, rather than interrupting the flow.

The best track that takes you off track is Emosanal Attyachar, that comes with a brass band, prominently the trumpet, the one you'd have heard in any Indian baaraat. The lyrics are quite funny and the video stars Patna ke Presleys, adding a 70's look. The brass resonator is a very fresh and likeable concept. Bony Chakravarthy sings it with an intonation that keeps getting on the head. The only other track he sung is a rock version of the same song, where he pronounces it correctly.

The second place would be shared by the classical melodies Paayaliya and Dil Mein Jaagi. Shruti Pathak, whose first song was the superhit Mar Jaawan (Fashion) with her husky voice, goes very soft and high pitched for the Indian classical Paayaliya who she wrote herself. Amazing song! Anusha Mani also wrote and sung for herself her second track, which, though sounds a tad similar to Piyu Bole (Parineeta), has a western classical touch and superb lyrics.

There is a list of folk songs in Rajasthani and Punjabi, all six written by debutante Shellee. Khuda Jaane (Bachna Ae Haseeno) singer Shilpa Rao, in her second song, renders her beautiful voice to Dhol Yaara Dhol and` Ranjhana along with Kshitij, for the only two duets in the album that are a pleasure to listen to. Toshi sings the third Rajasthani track Pardesiin a brilliant fusion music. The only experienced singer Labh Jajua sings the three Punjabi songs Maahi Mennu Nee Karna Pyaar and its sad version, which is much better, and the foot-tapping Hikknaal that will surely rock dance floors.

Amit Trivedi gave voice to four tracks in addition to music, which have been written by another first-timer Amitabh Bhattacharya. Saali Khushi is the best with a sad undertone, and almost gets you pensive. A very different Nayan Tarse is again a fusion between classical and rock and has amazing lyrics. The techno Aankh Micholi and Duniya are serious and light respectively and Amit Trivedi sounds different in each of them. The toughest words in the album can be heard in Yahi Meri Zindagi, sung in a sweet voice by Aditi Singh Sharma.

There are two tracks with Dev-Chanda themes that has good vocals. The only song I did not quite like was Ek Hulchul Si, quite run-of-the-mill, not bad though.

Dev D is going to be a movie with new talent who thinks differently; it is said Abhay Deol struck up the idea and proposed Anurag Kashyap for the movie. Amit Trivedi experimented with young and new singers and lyricists, and has delivered an amazing album. The movie is already a favourite of mine, the music album has been on a repeat-album setting in my car and on my laptop at office and home since the past week and I seem to have grown upon it. As i mention in my review that Ghajini is Sure Shot Blockbuster. It comes true when the movie cross the mighty barrier of 100 crore in India which non of the other movie in the bollywood history can do. The movie is also crosses the 200 crore barrier in local and domestic markets. Approx 161 in local markets and 39 crores in domestic markets. The latest buzz is that movie is crossed the barrier of 220 crores world wide that is wonderful.

The movie break all the box office records and it becomes all time money grosser by breaking the record of Gadar aik prem kahta records which have records of 97 crore in India. Ghajini also beats the King khan All time Blockbuster Dill Walay Dukhaniya Lay Jian gain in its third week in terms of Distrbuter Shares the movie has Distributor share is 50 crores while Ghajini has Distributer Share 51 to 52 crores behind the Legendry hits like Hum app ka hain kon and Gadar aik prem Khata with there Distributor shares of 54 crores and 57 crores respectively.

It is quite sad that good film with some interesting plot fails to make any impression on audience. Although Critcs gaves the mix response to the movie. It is quite good animinated movie with star cast like Akshay Kumar, Dimple Kapadia, Asranai and Rajpaal Yadav. Even Akshay Kumaar Status could not save the movie to sink at box office.

One of the biggest mistake is that the movie is realeased with the biggie Ghajini. There is certain hype is created due to Aamir khan 8 pack abs and wonderful music of the movie. The producer of the movie Jumbo should realease after a week later could find good results. Now it is clear that movie is Jumbo and it's producer is Dumbo.

Jumbo Movie Review

You need to look at an animation film differently. Let the kid in you come to the forefront when you watch one. At the same time, it's pertinent that every film, live or animation, should possess that grip to keep the viewer hooked to the proceedings for the next 2 hours.

Brimming with new genre of 'Animation', Bollywood has been striding on with its best efforts in churning out a perfect of its style. Well, note this down. Possibly, even a diehard fan of animation flicks wouldn't appreciate 'Jumbo' for it isn't so appealing. Perhaps, an Akshay Kumar's fan would go through similar-experiences.

Jumbo is interesting for its clichéd Hindi movie plot. While it may sound ironic, it is for this reason that the movie may do well with its young watchers. Jumbo (Akshay Kumar) is separated from his mother (Dimple Kapadia). This elephant, we are told, was son to a royal king elephant who lost his kingdom to the villain Bhaktavar (Gulshan Grover). So he grows up in the wild under the guidance of an uncle, falls in love with Sonia (Lara Dutta) and then is summoned back to his province to fight a war and win back his land. Without giving away the ending, it is easy to predict who wins the war.

JUMBO bears an uncanny resemblance to THE LION KING. You don't take to the film instantly, but it picks up towards the latter part when Jumbo is chosen by the king to fight the opponents. The animation isn't at par with the best [SHREK, THE LION KING, FINDING NEMO, the recent hit MADAGASCAR: ESCAPE 2 AFRICA], but the quality is better than some of the stuff we've witnessed in India.

Akshay Kumar is just narrator in the first half while takes on the characterization of Jumbo in the latter part. Voices of Dimple Kapadia and Lara Dutta are off mediocre while Gulshan Grover's voice sans intonation doesn't suit for the characterization. Overall, none of the voices are so sharper on modulation and you can call it 'imperfection'…

On the whole, JUMBO is a sweet, sincere and simple film that works. Who knows, it may spring a surprise this Christmas. Recommended for kids of all ages.

Ghajini is one of the most Hyped venture of Aamir khan Produced by Allu Arvind and Madhu Mahnatay. Star cast includes Aamir khan, Asin, Pardeep Rawat and Jiyah Khan.

If there is any actor that you can almost always depend on to deliver a solid film, it's Aamir Khan. Perhaps it's the way he meticulously chooses his scripts or the fact that he re-invents himself as an actor with every release—but an Aamir Khan film is always one that any filmy fan awaits with bated breath. In fact, if you really put it in perspective, you're not shocked that Ghajini is a good film. Why? Because by this stage of the game, you've come to expect such quality from an actor who clearly pours his heart and soul into everything he does.

GHAJINI is a revenge saga, one ingredient that has been the staple diet of Hindi films since time immemorial. It is a powerful film. It has the power to sweep you off your feet from the word 'go'. It has a riveting story, which has been told with flourish by director A.R. Murugadoss. And, of course, it has a knockout performance by Aamir Khan. If at all there's a shred of doubt whether Aamir is The Best in the business, all you've got to do is check out GHAJINI.

The film isn't as complicated as Memento. Ghajini is a head-spinning venture of Sanjay Sanghania (Aamir Khan) who has determined to avenge for his girlfriend Kalpana's (Asin) death. Protagonist seeking revenge for his ladylove's death; its so clichéd, isn't? Nevertheless, his greatest stumbling block is that his memory loses every bit of details for every 15mins. And what doesn't get bleached from his deep memory is death of Kalpana and the name 'Ghajini' (Pradeep Rawat) who murdered her. Again, the biggest obstruction is that Sanjay doesn't remember antagonist's identity.

Flaws any? Running time [almost 3 hours]? Not at all! There's so much happening in every scene and the screenplay is so gripping that you don't feel the need to look at the auditorium ceiling or at your watch at brief intervals. You aren't restless. As moviegoers, we've watched countless good versus evil fares over the years and although GHAJINI belongs to the same family, not once does it take the beaten track. The story has been told differently and most importantly, the story offers so many twists-n-turns that you just can't guess what would unfold next.

Screenplay is narrated on two separate chronicles; present life and flashback sequences of Sanjay. It's so gripping that you would ne'er feel restless or look at your watches throughout the complete show of 180mins. Except, 45mins of next-to-last sequences, there isn't any slight changes from original version and characterizations have been marvelously depicted.

'Wordlessly stupendous' – Aamir Khan or Mr. Perfectionist, whatever you like to call him, he is simply brilliant. Just note this down, unlike his previous flicks 'Rang De Basanthi', 'Fanaa' and 'Taare Zameen Par'; he has nothing do with dialogues. Perhaps, it's Asin, Jiah Khan and Pradeep Rawat who jump on uttering more words. For everyone, who were fond of this line 'Actions Speaks More than Words', you'll witness it with Aamir Khan. He emotes spectacularly with his facial expressions and gestures. For instances, watch him out in 'Bekha' where he spells the most minute expressions with brightness. While taking revenge, it's not the furiousness that's disclosed on his face, but the outburst of emotions for his lost love.

Asin makes a strong debut in the Hindi film industry. Just like the film, she starts off a bit uneasy but later grows on you. It's in the dramatic portions that she shines. What's great about her is that even if she isn't always extraordinary, she's charming and is a refreshing change from many of our size-zero heroines. The lead pair's chemistry is great too! As a student who gets involved with the wrong people, Jiah Khan is confident and proves that Nishabd was no fluke. This analysis would be incomplete without mentioning Ghajini himself, played by Pradeep Rawat, who makes you hate him every second of the film. That's a compliment, by the way.

A.R. Rahman with his tranfixing tunes steals the show. In particular, as everyone starts heeding to Mandolin's interlude on 'Guzarish', its claps, hails and whistles. Scenarios persist with 'Bekha' and getting to watch Aamir's acts and 6 get-ups, it's an appreciably innovative. 'Kaisa Mujhe' is sure to remain along with these two numbers on the charts of evergreen tunes.

To sum it up Ghajini is one of the most Shocking thriller with some power pack performaces and supermely well executed plot. As Far as Business is concern it set up the box office on Fire. It is totally commerical movie with wonderful Hype that is created due to body of Aamir khan.

Final Verdict : It is Sure Shot Blockbuster

ovies like Dil walay Dhulhaniya lay jain gaay and Mohabbatain. Now the million dollar questions is will Rab nay bana dee jodi fulfills the desired expectaions or not. Lets take a look.

This simple story is about a simple man Surinder Suri (Shah Rukh Khan) who lives a simple life and works for a simple Punjab Power company. Too much simplicity for you? The entrance of Taani (Anushka Sharma) marks the end of this simplicity and adds spice to his one mundane life. These two opposites come together out of sheer unfortunate events and enter into wedded bliss (?) Not really. While he loves her for her vivacious and fun-loving nature, she is bored by her new husband. Suri realizes that he may actually lose his wife and decides to change his ways by entering into a dance competition as Taani’s partner. He awakes as the boring husband and before the moon shines, his alter-ego kicks in to become Raj –you wouldn’t have expected any other name for his “twin.” The ending, of course a happy one but it does have a few hatke twists and turns before the climax kicks in.

The first half dawdles with sluggish narration until earlier minutes to pre-interval where SRK's soliloquy with statue takes on emotional quotients. Well, the latter half comprises of few enjoyable moments like Anushka racing on her bike with 'Dhoom Machale' on BCM and next ultimate shot of Vinay Pathak-SRK at garage.

Modern audiences, however, cannot be taken for granted on any level. They question the logic behind every nonsensical event in any movie. With regards to RNBDJ, a few questions do crop up. For starters, how does Taani not realize that Raj is her husband? While he does eventually rid himself of the moustache, his appearance is very similar to Suri. Additionally, what is the actual point of the story? Is it that you should change to such an extent to please your spouse? Another drawback is the length of the film. Running nearly three hours, the movie could easily use a few chops which would ideally help the screenplay too.

Aditya's innovative thought is laudable on certain parts like Shah Rukh laying rose next to food and again placing it vase, pictorial of Anushka's face for the song 'Tuj Mei Rab Diktha Hai' and entire Amritsar being lit up, 'I Love You' deserves grand round of applause. Fine! Young lads and missies would hail with praise worthy comments for Adhi's ideation. Both SRK a

nd Anushka swallowing Pani Purees followed by abrupt sequence where he has to finish of delicious Biriyani are evokes laughter.

Nevertheless, the biggest flaw is that how come a woman fails to recognize her husband with a slight-make over…. The characters of Surindar and Raj differ merely with thin moustache, hair style and costumes. Both the characters have same voice sans any modulations….

Shah Rukh is superb as the simpleton and your heart goes out to him every time he appears on screen. You want the underdog to win and here too, the way SRK tackles this part, you're all the more convinced. As Raj, SRK goes overboard at times. Anushka looks the character and surprises you with a confident performance. It's no small achievement to share screen space with an actor of the calibre of SRK and Anushka manages it very well from start to end. Vinay Pathak is incredible. He contributes enormously in making the proceedings lively.

The music is a slight disappointment with 'Haule Haule' and 'Dance Pe Chance' being the only two that shine simply because of its unique choreography. The cinematography deserves a mention for making Amritsar look even more beautiful than Switzerland. Cinematographer Ravi K Chandran has showed Punjab at its finest, making it become an integral part of the film.

The movie is entertaining but does not, unfortunately live up to the Yash Raj reputation. While it is definitely many notches above the recent debacles coming out of the productionhouse, it cannot be compared to some of the great hits that they have jutted out in the past. All in all, a good one time watch at the cinema.

Dostana is the movie non other then Karan Johar who Produced it under the banner of Dharma Production. The leading Cast is John Abraham, Abishek Bachan, Pranka Chopra and Bobby Deol. The world wide Distributor of this movie is Yash Raj and music available at Sony BMG. Movie is directed by Tarun Mansukhani.

DOSTANA is no BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN. It's not a serious take on homosexuality either. On the contrary, it's a madcap comedy where two straight men pretend to be gays. Although DOSTANA is a mainstream commercial film, it dares to push the envelope in its own way. It brings homosexuality out of the closet, gives it respect and dignity and doesn't treat gays as 'abnormal'.

It's all happening in the Beach Party Capitol of the world...Miami is the setting for Dharma Productions latest offering Dostana - serving a cocktail of all ingredient to do with Friendship, Fun, Frolic and that thing called Love... but with a slight twist - there is a small case of pretending to be Gays!!

Sure, DOSTANA has ample shock-value since what has been witnessed in its promos is barely a fraction of what you'd get to watch in the movie. But more than shock-value, the film offers loads of fun-n-laughter and dollops of entertainment in those 14 reels.

DOSTANA shocks you all the while and that is its biggest USP. Don't expect stereotypical situations or characters all through this film. Watch Abhishek cook up a romantic story between John and him in Venice. Watch Boman Irani's interaction with Abhishek and John. Watch Kirron Kher's dramatic entry at this point. Howlarious scenes all, they're sure to bring the house down

On The Acting Front Priyanka Chopra nails her role yet again. Besides looking absolutely gorgeous, she plays the role of the single, fun loving girl just waiting for the right guy to enter her life just right. It was great seeing her give back-to-back performances of two completely opposite characters in Fashion and Dostana and playing them so convincingly. Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham are equally good in their roles as well. Not once did their relationship on-screen seem forced. Albeit in the movie for a short time, Boman Irani is as funny as always. Kirron Kher does her part well too, but perhaps the writer(s) could have cut the crying and shouting about her son being gay just a little bit. Bobby Deol, playing the role of a single parent and also a work colleague of Neha's, does a reasonably good job. Sushmita Mukherjee, playing the role of Neha's aunt and the landlady, also does a decent job.

On the whole, DOSTANA is a winner all the way. In terms of content, it might just prove to be a trendsetter. In terms of business, the film holds tremendous appeal for the youth. The 16 to 25 age-group would go into raptures and bonkers over this film. Its business at multiplexes mainly will be amazing. In Overseas too, the film should emerge amongst the biggest draws of 2008. DOSTANA rocks... have a blast!

Madhur Bhandarkar, the undisputed king of realistic fares, comes up with yet another hard-hitting film that enlightens you, moves you, motivates and deflates you, even shocks and surprises you and of course, entertains you.

Fashion, this tells the story of one small town girl with a dream and the determination to make it a reality. Meghna Mathur (Priyanka Chopra) knew that she was meant to be famous. Ever ambitious and bright with stars in her eyes, even as a girl with a conservative background, she dared to dream of bright lights and the big city. The world of fashion - the clothes, the colors, the make-up, all of these form a part of the fascinating world that Meghna has longed to be a part of. She reaches the peak of her success and rises to walk the ramps for leading designers across India. The fashion world lies at her feet - the parties, the brand endorsements, the photographers, the models, the romance and of course - the shows, the shows, the shows!

What Madhur Bhandarkar has done extremely well with the story is how he has handled these three important characters and connected them – giving us an overall feel of the industry through their eyes. They each represent a different side of the lives of models in the fashion industry. On the one side we have Meghna - an innocent, small town girl who heads to Mumbai with nothing but confidence inside of her. As she gets to know this world of fashion, she realizes that there may be certain choices she may have to make which she normally wouldn't. What's great to see is when we do see her changing it seems very natural – almost expected, even - which really is a result of great acting and storytelling.

Mahesh Limaye's cinematography captures every aspect of the fashion industry to the fullest. The screenplay [Madhur Bhandarkar, Anuradha Tiwari, Ajay Monga] is perfect, except for the penultimate portions. Niranjan Iyengar's dialogues are fantastic. Nitin Chandrakant Desai's production design is truly upmarket. The costumes and styling are top notch, a feast for the eyes. Salim-Sulaiman's music is well synchronised as well. 'Mar Jaava' and 'Jalwa' are lilting creations.

On the Acting Front Mugdha Godse Done a Fantastic job, Arbaaz Khan is treffic surpurise in the movie he does very well. Arjun Bajwa does well, Harsh Chhaya is the role of gay Fashion designer perform extremely well his role is very natural. Ashwin Mushran, Priyanka's confidante, is top notch. Samir Soni is good. Suchitra Pillai and Kittu Gidwani are effectual. Raj Babbar and Kiran Juneja are seasoned in such roles.

Valuating 'Fashion' on the whole, it's strongly recommended for all the audiences. Madhur Bhandarkar has limned the real life drama of Fashion World that offer more surprises as well shocks. Not just in multiplexes, the film is sure to make high wavesacross other centres too. Hats off to entire team for a flawless and brainy show catering to all audiences… Bhandarkar not just presents the drama, but there is something more educative over here.
